Choosing the right nitrile glove for private labelling can be a little overwhelming, given the number of options available. However, if you’re looking for a robust, puncture-resistant OEM glove which protects against a range of hazardous chemicals, our broad range of private label nitrile disposable gloves are an excellent choice.

Understanding the kinds of materials and potential hazards that nitrile gloves safeguard against, as well as the different nitrile options available, can help you customize your perfect pair of OEM gloves.

What are nitrile gloves and how are they tested?

Unlike other glove varieties, our private label nitrile gloves are manufactured using a synthetic rubber compound which is free from protein, does not contain latex, and is resistant to a range of chemicals and abrasive materials.

All our OEM protective range of nitrile gloves are tested and graded based on several international standards:

  • EN374: Gloves tested to this standard and certified as such will withstand at least 10 minutes of contact with certain chemicals. Their suitability is tested according to penetration time, degradation level, and permeation rate.

  • EN 455: Gloves tested to this standard are deemed medical rated and are safe to be used for medical practice. EN 455 single use disposable gloves are a good barrier against microorganisms, they perform effectively without breaking while protecting the user from toxic and hazardous materials.

  • FDA 510K Certified: Gloves tested under 510(K) are deemed safe for contact with food.

  • ASTM D 6319: Tested to certain requirements for nitrile rubber gloves used in medical applications. Standard specifies various test methods including sterility testing, physical dimensions testing, physical requirements testing, powder residue, and powder limit testing.

  • ISO 13485 Accredited: An international standard for medical device manufacturers to meet regulatory requirements.

Selecting the right glove for a working environment means understanding the testing standards and ratings that each glove product is subject to. For example, while some gloves are deemed suitable for use in food processing and meet general health and safety standards – such as those that comply with FDA 510(K) - they may not be suitably chemical resistant or provide protection from microorganisms.

Choosing The Right Gloves For The Job: Automotive Applications

It is common knowledge that automotive workers should wear gloves while performing their tasks. No one wants to come away after a hard day’s work covered in grease and oil. Not only do gloves help in this regard, but they also provide a level of protection to automotive workers.

With so many types of glove materials on the market, we want to point you in the right direction for choosing the best glove for your automotive applications.

Working with Sharp Objects and Tools

Mechanics are frequently working with screwdrivers, wrenches, and other tools and equipment that could easily puncture gloves and cause injury. Latex gloves offer “good” resistance to punctures and vinyl “poor”. As nitrile is a synthetic rubber, it is inherently three to five times more durable and puncture resistant than its counterpart, making nitrile gloves the ideal choice for automotive applications.

Resistance to Chemicals and Substances

Automotive mechanics work with some of the most dangerous and harsh products that can be found in cars, among which are gasoline, brake and transmission fluids. Without proper gloving, these dangerous fluids can seep through the mechanic’s skin and ultimately cause nerve destruction, weakness in the touched areas, and in severe cases, paralysis. Aside from these more serious consequences, if contaminated hands are exposed to other parts of the body including the face or eyes, the mechanic can experience redness or irritation.

In general, latex gloves offer “poor” resistance, vinyl “good”, and nitrile “excellent” resistance to automotive chemicals.

Nitrile is a synthetic rubber that is built with three chemical monomers, making the material strong and resistant to chemicals that mechanics come in contact with on a daily basis.

Intricate Tasks

Gloves that allow for comfort and ease performing intricate tasks are ideal in the automotive industry as workers are frequently required to use small tools to complete tasks. The nitrile material may not be as elastic as latex, however nitrile is very flexible and will conform to the users' hand after extended use, which provides a very high level of precision and dexterity that is needed in an automotive application.

What Type of Gloves are Best in Automotive Applications?

In the automotive industry, nitrile gloves have proven to be superior to latex gloves because they satisfy the three needs of an automotive mechanic.

  • Puncture resistance
  • Chemical protection
  • High level of dexterity

For many years, automotive mechanics have used disposable latex gloves for working in an automotive setting. However, despite the high level of dexterity that latex gloves provide, they proved inadequate for the level of puncture resistance needed by auto mechanics. When working hard under the hood of a car, a mechanic needs to trust that his gloves will not tear, snag, or puncture with repeated contact with some sharp and rough surfaces. Even the small holes or tears that occur in latex gloves will prove to be harmful to the wearer because the dangerous liquids can and will seep through. Mechanics and service technicians often found that their disposable latex gloves were not holding up to the harsh and dangerous substances they were using on a daily basis, leading them to search for a better alternative to latex.

In automotive applications, powder-free gloves are often recommended and are a more popular option. Although the powder inside the nitrile glove makes them easier to get on and off, the powder can be detrimental to certain automotive related applications. Donning powder can harm vehicle paint or the seal on windshields making them an inconvenient option. Latex allergies from the powder in workplaces are also a concern due to some user’s allergies and sensitivities to latex.

What do nitrile gloves protect against?

Workers in almost any field can come into contact with hazards. Whether those working as a mechanic, preparing food, working in manufacturing, handling electronics, or working in healthcare, protective gloves play an essential role in risk management. Wearing the appropriate nitrile protective gloves can protect workers against irritation to the skin, prevent infection, and reduce the risk of burns, cuts and abrasions. Nitrile gloves are also suitable for protection against microorganisms such as bacteria, fungus, and viruses, making them an extremely versatile protective glove.

Why choose nitrile gloves?

Nitrile gloves offer not only a superior level of protection against certain oil-based chemicals, but they are also highly puncture-resistant, versatile and robust. Despite common misconceptions that latex gloves provide better sensitivity and dexterity, our OEM range of disposable nitrile gloves offer a form-fitting comfort, moulding to the hand for increased sensitivity. This means they’re better suited for sustained wear, as well as being suitable for use in high-risk environments involving contact with hazardous or abrasive materials.

Our range of single use disposable nitrile gloves are offered in coloured varieties, including blue, black, orange and purple. Our colour coding gloves help users to manage risk and avoid contamination by allocating certain colours to specific tasks (for example, using one colour for auto repair and another for spray painting.

PrimeHub’s OEM disposable nitrile glove ranges also include anti-static varieties (preferred for those working with electronic components), powder-free options, and gloves designed with textured finger grips for increased dexterity.

What other industries are nitrile gloves suitable for?

The superior quality of our private label nitrile gloves makes them a popular choice for industries where workers are likely to come into contact with hazards like chemicals and abrasive materials, as well as for those which involve contact with food, or where extended use is required.

In some sectors, cheaper disposable gloves such as vinyl gloves, have been historically favoured. However, due to the sustainability and dexterity offered by nitrile gloves, an investment in this type of protective glove can lead to increased usage times and fewer replacements due to breakages; making nitrile gloves a worthwhile investment for many workplaces.

Some of the industries which benefit from the use of nitrile gloves include:

  • Aerospace
  • Chemical manufacturing
  • Dentistry and hygiene
  • Food processing
  • Engineering
  • Electronics
  • Healthcare
  • Laboratory work
  • Printing
  • Manufacturing and assembly
  • Pharmaceutical
